【摘要】:Theproceduresgivenaredesignedtoremovecorrosionproductswithoutsignificantremovalofbasemetal.Thisallowsanaccuratedeterminationofthemasslossofthemetaloralloythatoccurredduringexposuretothecorrosiveenvironment.Theseprocedures,insomecases,mayapplytometalcoatings.However,possibleeffectsfromthesubstratemustbeconsidered.1.1Thispracticecoverssuggestedproceduresforpreparingbare,solidmetalspecimensfortests,forremovingcorrosionproductsafterthetesthasbeencompleted,andforevaluatingthecorrosiondamagethathasoccurred.Emphasisisplacedonproceduresrelatedtotheevaluationofcorrosionbymasslossandpittingmeasurements.(Warning8212;Inmanycasesthecorrosionproductonthereactivemetalstitaniumandzirconiumisahardandtightlybondedoxidethatdefiesremovalbychemicalorordinarymechanicalmeans.Inmanysuchcases,corrosionratesareestablishedbymassgainratherthanmassloss.)1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.Forspecificprecautionarystatements,see1and7.2.
